Dira dialogue is the platform used by TYVA to advocate for youth cross-cutting issues that are of their interest for the welfare of the nation. Since its inception in the year 2000, TYVA has used Dira dialogues to champion effective youth participation in various national debates and discussions.
As a part of recognizing youth role in positively shaping their communities, the Dira Dialogue is meant to be a quarterly leadership platform for youth from social-political and economic movements and civil society to learn, strengthen the network, and share knowledge, skills and experiences with invited influential speakers.
The platform has been forefront to improve youth mind set and create conducive environment for free, justice and democratic society with effective youth participation.
Methodology and targeted group
The platform brings together 50 youth aged between 18 – 35 years with leaders from their respectively areas; educational institutions, youth organizations, youth enterprises and business together with influential people (Speakers) from the government bodies, financial institutions, political parties, youth development partners, private sector and policy makers.
The approach that is being used to impact the communities and reach to the wider audience and eventually our objectives are to establish online discussion a week prior to the actual event through social media accounts like the Facebook and Twitter with the hash-tag DiraYaVijanaTz. Through this way we manage to gather youths and development partners in corresponding with policymakers at the same place to discussion youth matter in-depth.
Dira Dialogue 2018
So far the 2018 was the Human rights year for the Dira Dialogues as the whole dialogues were about the First generations of Human Rights: Civil and Political rights. Youths from Zanzibar, Mtwara, Arusha and Kigoma were well equipped with knowledge that led them to exercise their civil as well as political rights to the coming Local Government Election in 2019. Our appreciations go to our partner Friedrich Nauman Foundation (FNF) for their continued supports.
