About 33.6 million of the population in Tanzania is below the age of 35 years, and the number of youth between the ages of 15 – 35 is 34.7 percent. Youth constitute 18 percent of the global population and by 2030; it is projected that number of youth in Africa will be increased by 42 percent. Africa having the youngest population in the world, with approximately 200 million people between 15 – 24 years; it is important that this group is groomed to take leadership roles especially in countries where there are still development challenges.
As a part of recognizing youth role in positively shaping their communities, the Dira Dialogue is meant to be a quarterly leadership platform for youth from social-political and economic movements and civil society to learn, strengthen the network, and share knowledge, skills and experiences with invited influential speakers.
The platform has been forefront to improve youth mind set and create conducive environment for free, justice and democratic society with effective and active youth participation.
Through Dira Dialogues we are looking forward to establish a platform for young people to learn, discuss and share experiences on building democratic governance, free and economically-just society.
